One for the Boyz.
Sorry for the blog delay folks.......
The other night in northern Germany, we made a couple of decisions. The first was to add a day or 2 to our time in Denmark, and the 2nd was to take the boys to Legoland, we hadn't told them we were going here, we just said we had a surprise for them, Callum in particular was excited and kept trying to guess where we were going. They have endured a lot of miles in their seats and it was time they had a full day doing something (we hoped) they would enjoy. So we were up early today, the marina to Kolding was busy. We had breakfast and were on the road by 10am, we arrived at Billund and found Legoland and got Bessie parked for the day. Joyce had made our picnic for the day and that was loaded in the rucksacks along with waterproofs as the forecast was for rain later in the day. We had booked our tickets online so it was just a case of going along with the barcodes on the phone and getting scanned in. We got a couple of park maps, one for me (of course), and one for Callum. It's quite good at these sort of places to have a map and a rough idea of where to go as there's lots to see and do.

The boys were excited when they realised where they were, the bright colours all around the entrance gates and the fact they know what Lego is probably made them realise this would be a fun day. Straight away when passing you through the gates you are into miniature world, this is themed on various areas or industries from different countries of the world. For example, the first exhibit is a working Lego replica of the Billund airport which is sited next to Legoland, it's cools with Lego planes taxiing along runways, parking at terminals and buses pulling up to take passengers away. Theres even a model truck with hose which comes along and de-ices the planes wings. Theres a huge Lego working model of an area of Copenhagen with colourful houses and boats sailing along being filled up materials. Scotland was represented by a model village of Crail and its harbour, it had buses running through it with "The Nessie Line" on the sides, a wee Malt Whisky truck with barrels in the back and the Connel Bridge spanning a river, Eileann Donan castle also had a model. The North Sea had a model of huge oil rigs with working cranes etc. The boys were intrigued by 2 whales that revolved and as they surfaced whoever was stood in the wrong place got a wee shower. There were many other very impressive cities and exhibits that will need a second visit as there isn't time to look at it all.

We headed next for the Haunted house, Callum decided he wanted to go in and Logan also, however we realised at this point they are strict with their height restrictions. Sadly Logan was about 2cm too short and he hadn't quite yet grasped what I meant when I showed him how to stand a wee bit on his tiptoes.......there will need to be a further visit. The haunted house was fun, Callum did cower a few times.....Logan the Brave would have been just fine. The day continued and it was actually quite surprising some of the rides they were actually allowed on. Some of the Roller Coasters were quite full on for 3 and 4 years olds and our boys had a hoot. The place is great and I have to say I felt like a great big kid again, its also great seeing the boys enjoying themselves somewhere like this, I tend to do free and natural things with them so this was definitely a treat....we all had a ball.

Anyone who knows me will know that I like to make the most of things, and get our moneys worth, so we ended up still in the park at 5pm, shutting time for the rides, however the park doesn't shut till 6 so there was time for us to finish the day with a pizza, this saved Mum a job when we got back to the van, poor Joyce never seems to get much of a break from the kitchen with us 3 hungry Boyz. The pizza shop workers and blethered to us asking about where have been and where we were heading, they were surprised to learn we are on the road for quite so long. We left the pizza place at 6.30ish, bellies filled and a pizza box with the left overs for tomorrow.
I had hoped to travel up the North West Jutland coast as it looked interesting on the map with roads running along narrow strips of land with water on both sides so we figured we still had time to make it out west and looked for a campsite on our app for a place called Hvide Sand. It's a rather around about route to get there from Billund so modern technology was deployed to prevent any wrong turns. The weather was deteriorating as we headed west and I seriously questioned this (my) choice, maybe we would have been better staying east or somewhere in the middle, who knows but by 8pm and arriving at the campsite the van was being buffeted about in the wind and it was pretty grey. Hmmm.....not quite what we had become accustomed to, lol. We found the site, parked up and the boys had a brief play on the small swing park before declaring it was too cold and they wanted their beds.
Boys packed off to bed, happily we cracked open a couple of drinks and I got the PC out to write ups the blog, but I could hardly keep my eyes open......so the blog idea was scrapped and we hit the sack......the theme park had taken it out of us all and an early night would do us no harm. During this little driving leg we passed the first 1000 mile mark for the trip, in 6 days 😳😂........We are ALL LOVING IT SO FAR!!
