No imagination

The title is said, tongue in cheek.
Today was a  bit of a scunner, we woke to the sun totally splitting the trees and it was warm, with a good forecast for the south west for a few days, but for us we were heading north. Our time has run out, our holiday is not finished but we have to make tracks back north. Had we made it as far as hoped we would have headed east through Clonakilty (a work colleague of mine recommended it, his sister lives there). I also wanted to visit Cork, I heard good stories about it from my fishing mates. There's still a couple of peninsulas down there to be explored, we wanted to take Ireland's only cable car to Dursey Island. But we had ground to a halt at Killarney and it was the right thing to do. We have travelled more miles each day than planned, the coast is long and meandering. Its not fair on the boys however, its their holiday too and need swing parks, beaches and walks and have not had enough of any. So the few days not moving too far have been good for us all. The van was all packed and we left the campsite and swung back round via the tyre dealer, but alas no tyre-no real surprise there. So we pointed Bessie north and headed up towards Limerick, about 70 miles or so. The roads are better now and progress is faster, we stop for lunch at Shannon near the airport. There is a flight museum here that looks worth a visit, but not today. We then rejoined the motorway and headed north for Galway, its a nice fast road and we cover the distance in an hour and a half at a slow pace.
Our chosen destination for the night was Strandhill, we liked the place, it has a good restaurant and its well on the way in the right direction for us- well sort of. We had travelled 225 miles from Killarney, in 6 hours. On the way down, following the coast it took us 12 days.....!!!
We arrived in the campsite just after 6, so we hooked the van up, had a quick beer, a quick change and wandered up to The Venue for dinner. So we were back in the same town, in the same restaurant, eating the very same food, lol. The food didn't disappoint again, this time we had seats in the main eating area also and the view west, with the setting sun was stunning. I had hoped for a few decent sunsets to get some photos of, and this was the best and I was unable to take advantage. However, like all the best memories, its not the one you have a photo of, its those that are etched in your memory. The boys were good, it was quite busy and we were right in the middle of the place, they had a boring day being stuck in their seats for most of it, fortunately they both slept en route which helps them in the evening.
The sunset faded, the  Guinness and deserts were finished and we headed back to the van happy. The boys were soon asleep and the Scrabble was started, it was a bad night for me again, I was tired and lost. So its 9-9 with 1 game to go..........its serious now...  :-))
