Delaying tactics😆
Saturday 29th July.
220 miles.....351km
Our parking spot near Tversted had been good and is noted for future trips, it was busy with vans but perfectly quiet and clean. It's Saturday and was probably busy as kts the weekend and people are here for the lovely walks and cycles that can be done. We had used it as a stop off as we wanted to revisit the North Sea Oceanarium at Hirtshals, the boys had really enjoyed this 4 years ago, Callum remembered some bits, not so Logan.
We were on the road just after 9 30am and at the aquarium before 10am....yet again, not exactly a racing start which always has a knock on effect later in the day...never mind. We all agreed that this is a better aquarium than Copenhagen (though it was good also) and we were here for quite a while, we ended up having lunch here too as we had not much food in the van for sandwiches etc. I like this place as it pretty much exclusively about what lives or has lived in the local area, there are no south American tropical fish or amphibians from the far east. Its all about cod, bass, sunfish, sharks, whales, seals, crustaceans that are found in the North Sea area and I suppose the baltics. It is also very clean, all the tanks are spotless, there are no ill looking fish. The main tank holds 4.5million litres of water and a diver goes in to feed the fish which we saw. The boys had fun stamping their books at various points after they had visited each area.
We got on the road just after 2:45pm and headed south. I had my mind set on Flensburg a good 220 miles south. We really needed to be down there as we only have 2 more days to get back to Rotterdam....its not a problem but I do not want to be under pressure getting there on time. Sunday we will break the back of the journey, hopefully leaving just a relaxed 2 or 3 hours drive for Monday before our evening ferry departure. Where we ened up tomorrow remains to be seen but we have finally managed to track down the little place we spent our last night in 2019......I did not complete the blog for the last few days of that trip and don't have a record of the last part of our route unfortunately.
Yet again I needed to stop for a snooze on the way...its totally fine and 20 minutes and a coffee later we were good to go. We did not get to Krusa campsite until around 7:30pm but we have had a good day at tbe aquarium and as I said before our late arrival is directly attributed to our late departure this morning. The boys have been out playing in the park on the big inflatable bouncy mattresses, zip slide and swings while Joyce made dinner, I drank a beer and planned our next moves south.
All for now. Beer and whisky time...😋😋
